Post-War Vintage Martin 00-18 Flat Top
The serial number dates this vintage Martin 00-18 to 1946 to the immediate post-War production era. Period features include classic Spruce and Mahogany construction with tapered top bracing, and original open back Kluson tuners. This 00-18 survived without any repairs or modifications and surfaced recently in Alabama.
Our luthier performed a neck reset, dressed the frets, and replaced the crumbled tuner buttons with Antique Acoustics replica buttons. The setup is dialed in to factory spec and now the guitar is a joy to play with low action up the neck. Many years of music have left a beautiful patina of marks and scratches on the body, but we could not identify any cracks. The original bridge is full height and the original bridge plate is still intact.
The brown celluloid pickguard shows a beautiful swirling pattern that complements the simple elegance of Martin’s craftsmanship. Typical full, rounded neck profile for the 1946 period. Your purchase includes an older hard case with purple lining that fits the guitar quite well. The voice is everything you would expect from a vintage Martin flat top: sweet, musical and detailed.
