All Original 1957 Gibson Electric-Acoustic
This slope-shouldered dreadnought Gibson came from the second owner who got the guitar in 1961. His mother bought it for his 9th birthday from a neighbor whose daughter had given up taking her guitar lessons. He played for about a year before putting the J-160E away in its original Lifton hard case with the Ace woven strap rolled up in the case pocket.
This golden era Gibson flat top remains in all original condition with the original P-90 pickup, electronics, and Kluson tuners. Even the frets are original. The initial inspection revealed no cracks and no prior repairs. A neck reset, bridge reglue and setup brought the maintenance up to date. The result is an extremely playable and flexible guitar. It is strung with electric strings to take advantage of the pickup but you can have fun experimenting. The condition is outstanding, with only some pick rash on the upper bout as detailed in the photos.
A factory order number starting with the letter “U” denotes 1957 manufacture. The 1957 neck profile is delightful. The bound fingerboard features the same trapezoid inlays as a 1957 Les Paul and the vivid sunburst top finish catches the eye every time you open the case. A fine vintage Gibson acoustic.
