All Original Vintage Gibson F-4 Mandolin
When Gibson built this mandolin in 1918, the F-4 model was the top of the line. Over a century later we can still admire the fine craftsmanship, iconic design and musical voice of this heirloom quality instrument. Stylishly appointed with a hand-rubbed dark cherry sunburst finish, Handel tuners with inlaid buttons, and ornate headstock inlay.
All the original parts have remained with the mandolin, including the engraved tailpiece cover, pickguard/ bracket, bridge, and tuners. The original Geib hard case with plush green lining is still in fine shape. My inspection did not reveal any significant cracks or repairs and my luthier set up the instrument for top playability. The headstock scrolls are both intact and unbroken. You’ll see some light play wear on the neck in the photos, which is completely understandable given how sweet it sounds. Who could resist playing a few tasty licks on this vintage F-4?
