The Last Narrow Panel Tweed Champ
Leo Fender famously never let anything go to waste, and that holds true for this rare, late variation of the narrow panel tweed Champ. The 5F1 circuit and cabinet construction are identical to the legendary narrow panel tweed version, cosmetically updated with black tolex covering and black handle. This 1964 transitional Champ represents the final form of the 5F1 model before Fender replaced it with the redesigned AA764 Champ later in 1964.
This February 1964 vintage Fender was recently serviced by an expert tech with grounded 3 prong plug and a couple of new capacitors sleeved in the original jackets to maintain the vintage look. Both the power and output transformers are original. The speaker is a period vintage Jensen Special Design 8″ model from 1959, freshly reconed at 4 ohms for durability and sound. The original tubes still function well and sound great. This Champ is perfect for recording and practice with plenty of crunch at low volume. Makes an excellent companion to your pre-CBS Fender guitar.
